NOMA President attends White House Workshop on STEM
.
This year's Minorities in STEM Workshop held at the White House was attending by over sixty organizations spearheading efforts to increase the number of minorities in technical professions.  For the second year in a row, NOMA President Kathy Dixon, attended to represent the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).  This year's workshop was included a brainstorming and strategy session with the goal of establishing programs to promote STEM fields among African-American, Latino, Native American, and Asian youth.  Dr. John Holdren, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, spoke to the participants about the importance of these efforts.  The participants also heard from a number of other White House representatives.  NOMA is a member of a CHANGES, a greater coalition of similar organizations interested in promoted STEM professions.  Several CHANGES organizations including MAES - Latinos in Science and Engineering, National Society of Black Engineers, Great Minds in STEM, National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemist and Chemical Engineers, also attended the White House Workshop.
