Professor of Practice

The Syracuse University School of Architecture seeks candidates with a body of innovative built work for the position of Professor of Practice. This non-tenure track position balances teaching with practice in architecture, urban design, or landscape architecture.  Experience in both private and public sector work is an asset. 

The Professor of Practice will engage students and faculty in projects related to progressive and research-based design and construction.  The position will also have a strong relationship with UPSTATE: A Center for Design, Research, and Real Estate, an institute located within the School that focuses on teaching, design research, and collaborative projects in the city and region. 

Candidates with compelling intellectual and architectural portfolios who have extensive experience are preferred.  Enthusiasm and experience with community-based practice and the ability to excel in both academic and professional settings are desired.  An advanced degree in architecture (M.Arch.) is preferred and professional licensure is required. This is a three-year renewable contract.  Syracuse University provides a competitive salary, benefits package, and a research stipend.

Executive Director

The Opportunity.  The Boston Society of Architects (BSA), a 4,000+ member professional association, is seeking a creative and energetic Executive Director to work with its Board of Directors to develop the BSA’s policy objectives. The Executive Director will be responsible for the operation and implementation of the strategic plan and for the overall performance of the organization.  S/he will oversee an ambitious agenda while cultivating and strengthening myriad relationships with individuals and groups in allied professions, industry, government, and the community.  S/he must be able to capture opportunity, navigate change and lead a team to raise the visibility, impact and excellence of the organization on behalf of its members.

Tenure/Tenure-Track Position in building technology with a focus on structures at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor

 

The School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation offers an opportunity to join the Architecture Program beginning in Fall 2011 to teach building technology with a focus on structures. This faculty position, with rank appropriate to experience, requires teaching building technology courses with a focus on structures that serve the Program’s curriculum, service on Program and School Committees, as well as continuing development of professional, scholarly, research, and/or creative work. The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate a record or the promise of innovative and excellent teaching. Applicants must have a Master of Architecture degree with developed expertise in teaching structures, and/or a PhD in architecture or engineering. Professional registration is preferred.
