Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

CMU NOMAS was formed in 2014 by a group of minority students in the School of Architecture that wanted a space to share similar experiences.  Carnegie Mellon University officially recognized NOMAS as a school organization in 2017.

We find, as minorities studying architecture, a community of purpose and cultural experience that warrants our combined efforts in the advancement of our future profession, our respective activities in it, and the needs of the communities we will serve.

Our purpose is to foster communication, cooperation, solidarity and fellowship among minority students in the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University.  We seek to build mentorship opportunities for our members through our involvement with the NOMA Pittsburgh professional chapter. And we uphold a safe space to discuss the intersection of issues related to architecture and the minority experience.
