The Emerging Design Excellence Award celebrates the rising stars of the design world—individuals who have quickly made their mark through exceptional professional practice and meaningful service to the Institute, the design profession, or society.

These honorees are on the “fast track,” achieving rapid advancements within their organizations and gaining well-deserved recognition from peers and leaders in their fields. Their early achievements reflect not only their talent and dedication but also their potential to shape the future of design in extraordinary ways.

Ralph Raymond is a Haitian-born architect contributing to the implementation of over 14 million square feet of design as a senior associate with the global design firm HOK, where he additionally serves as a firm-wide co-chair of the Diversity Advisory Council, empowering colleagues and communities around the world. A former president of the Atlanta chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and the Georgia Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Ralph has advanced the profession through his leadership in amplifying the efficiency of the organizations and their membership through policies and initiatives. He is a board member of the state of Georgia Registered Architects and Interior Designers licensing board, appointed by the governor; actively regulating the profession as a volunteer with NCARB, NAAB, ACE Mentor Program of Atlanta, and the GT College of Design Advisory Board, focused on the continued elevation of those entering the profession.
